Foreign direct investment (FDI) inward

Definition
Reflects the objective by a foreign entity of obtaining a lasting interest in the reporting economy (i.e. controlling more than 10% of the voting power of a resident entity). FDI positions represent the value of the stock of direct investments held at the end of the year. Direct investment positions are affected not only by financial transactions recorded prior to and during the period but also by other changes in price, exchange rates, and volume

Investissement direct étranger entrant (IDE)

Définition
Reflète l'objectif d'une entité étrangère d'obtenir un intérêt durable dans l'économie déclarante (i.e. obtenir le contrôle de plus de 10% de droits de vote d'une entité résidente). Les positions IDE représentent la valeur du stock des investissements étrangers obtenus jusqu'à la fin de l'année. Les positions d'investissement directes sont affectées non seulement par les transactions enregistrées avant ou pendant la période mais aussi par les autres changements de prix, taux de change et volume
