Conservation of cultural heritage

Definition
The conservation of cultural heritage refers to the measures taken to extend the life of cultural heritage while strengthening transmission of its significant heritage messages and values. In the domain of cultural property, the aim of conservation is to maintain the physical and cultural characteristics of the object to ensure that its value is not diminished and that it will outlive our limited time span.

La Conservation du patrimoine culturel correspond aux mesures entreprises pour étendre la durée de vie du patrimoine culturel, tout en renforçant la transmission de ses messages et de ses valeurs patrimoniales majeures. Dans le domaine des biens culturels, la conservation a pour but de maintenir les caractéristiques physiques et culturelles de son objet afin de garantir que sa valeur ne soit pas diminuée et qu’elle perdurera de génération en génération.

La conservación del patrimonio cultural hace referencia a las medidas llevadas a cabo para alargar la vida del patrimonio cultural a la vez que se fortalece la transmisión de sus mensajes y valores significativos. En el ámbito de la propiedad cultural, el objetivo de la conservación es mantener las características físicas y culturales del objeto en cuestión para asegurar que su valor no disminuya y que sobreviva en el futuro.
